ou're probably too tired to notice how much you and your baby have learned, grown, and changed during this (short?) time. But you really have!

3 Weeks

By three weeks, you may have developed some kind of rhythm or pattern, and you've surely started to learn how to anticipate what your baby needs. A 3-week-old baby's demands seem endless and most new parents are exhausted and wondering whether they'll ever have a moment to themselves again. You will ! Once passed the stage of discovery and fascination, baby becomes often the subject of questions and worries.

Health

How to face the small or bigger health concerns? How to guide baby in its first discoveries? Which is the better nutrition for your baby?  Things are about to get much easier as baby, like any adult, come with an individual temperament. Some babies have more regular eating and sleeping patterns than others do at this age. You will adapt to your baby's schedule and needs to eat pretty regularly throughout the 24-hour day.

Patterns

Baby probably has a somewhat more predictable pattern of sleeping and eating than he did right after birth. You will have learned a lot about how to understand and meet his needs and how to comfort and care for him. He Is alert more often, may even be awake for an hour or more and after a feeding or a bath, you will notice that he's studying your face, watching you talk, and quieting down when he hears your voice.

To Know

As your baby's nervous system matures, the world becomes more interesting, and baby may need to have more control of his head, won't seem quite as fragile as before, but still needs lots of support when you hold him. Baby still needs to sleep on his back but can watch his hand move in front of his face, even he won't have much control of his hands, he will have pretty good control of his eyes and can study the objects around him.

Smiling

But baby's first smile signs his entry to the maternal relation and you'll soon see that around 3 weeks things have evolved so fast. Baby makes a little sound or two to show how excited he is when you talk to him and these little coos are the beginning of language. Be sure to stop and answer him with a bit of conversation.

Baby sleeps for three to four hours at a stretch and the real fun of parenting is about to begin as your baby smiles at you for the first time, starts to coo back and forth, and lets you know you're loved and appreciated.
