T he global food crisis is showing how the system creates a mindset that makes one greedy for more and more even if the third world starves. Speculators,
who are desperate for quick returns to shore up their subprime losses, are taking trillions of dollars out of private equity and financial derivatives and are sinking them into food and raw
materials, even placing bets on water prices. Having piled into telecom stocks in the 80's creating a bubble, and then internet in the 90s as the dotcoms boom got under way, they
shifted into real estate subprime mortgages. Now, with the collapse of the property bubble across the world, they are pouring into the only place left, food and commodities
